6th Sense (Augmented Reality)

Students at the MIT Media Lab have developed a wearable computing system that turns any surface into an interactive display screen. The wearer can summon virtual gadgets and internet data at will, then dispel them like smoke when they’re done. (via WIRED)

I know this concept is already 6 months and kinda old but it is very different than many augmented reality applications. It is not as private as looking through your mobile device but it is more social than that.

Speaker is Pattie Maes from MIT Media Lab

History comes alive via Augmented Reality Tours

The BMT Group and the Fraunhofer Institute have teamed up to work on an EU-funded project to offer Augmented Reality content on smartphones to tourists visiting historic sites throughout the continent. This would make it possible to see those buildings and paintings that have since been destroyed, or haven't aged so gracefully. (via Popsci)

in other words, this service adds history layer on top of modern world. cool
